Davido, an afrobeat musician, revealed with pride that a former president of Nigeria listened to his music.
Davido talked about the difficulties he had from his father in a previous report, as he exploited his power to obstruct his musical career.
He said his father scared event planners and would go to tremendous measures to keep him from appearing in shows.
But now that things have turned around, his father is his strongest ally. This is due to the fact that, in addition to enjoying Davido’s music, the former president set one of his hits as a ringtone when it peaked at the top of the charts.
“I had a song at the time that was in the top 20 in the charts in Africa.”
However, my subsequent song became the number one hit, like my nations president was having a blast with it. His ringtone was the song.
A few months prior, B-Red, Davido’s cousin, told the story of how he raised funds by selling 20 television sets from the singer’s father’s home.
He described how, in a last-ditch effort to raise money, he and Davido sold off Davido’s father’s televisions after Don Jazzy volunteered to help them on a condition.
Despite acknowledging his sorrow, he is nevertheless glad he took the action.
Davido wrote a touching letter to his father last year, describing how much his father had influenced his life.
He acknowledged that his father was the one who instilled in him the values of hard work, humility and life ideals, and he said and he said that riches shouldn’t be a factor in determining one’s personality.
