Former president Goodluck Jonathan in his visit to President Bola Tinubu, said that, Nigeria’s recent democratic transition puts it in a position to lead Africa. He voiced his confidence in the country’s capacity to do so.

He called for an end to political animosity in order to advance the country and stressed the importance of unity among Nigeria’s political leaders, including former presidents.

Goodluck Jonathan spoke with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja about Nigeria’s advancement and its possible leadership position in the continent.

Additionally, he emphasized how crucial it is to have frequent discussions with the present president, when it comes to international initiatives.

The goals of Jonathan’s travels to the State House are typically to further the interests of Nigeria, Economic Community of West African States and the continent of Africa.

In effort to restore civilian governance, the Malian military administration declared in September 2023 that it would postpone the February 2024 presidential elections.

Technical issues, such as the ratification of a new constitution and an examination of election lists, were the cause of the delay. A disagreement with the French corporation Idemia, which is engaged in the census process, was also brought by the military government of Mali.

We’ll let you know when the presidential election is moving forward.

When the junta led by Asimi Goita announced its intention to hold unto power for a maximum of five years, the Economic Community of West African States placed sanctions on Mali in January 2022.

But in response to pressure from the regional group, the junta declared that elections would take place in February.

This would result in the removal of trade and financial sanctions on Mali in July.
