Abia State Governor, Alex Otti speaks on arresting elders and youths invited to Umuahia, the state capital for peace talk.

The working governor of Abia state, has refuted claims that he has arrested young men and elders who were invited to a peace meeting in Umuahia.

According to the allegations, thugs and Ngwa people blocked Port Harcourt Road construction in an attempt to an agreement.

Otti allegedly called them to a peace meeting and then detained.

Dodoh Okafor, the governor’s senior special assistant on public communication, said that Otti never gave the go-ahead order for the arrest of any particular set of people in relation to the on-going project in the state.

Okafor underlined that the public should be cautious of the malicious actions of a few greedy personalities and that the administration is dedicated to reconstructing and restoring the state’s public infrastructures.

The statement said as follows:

“We have become aware of a widely circulated social media narrative in which the authors, for unknown reasons, claimed that Abia State Governor @alexottiofr had certain young men and elders detained following his purported invitation to them for peace talks in Umuahia. It is a truth that Governor never ordered the arrest of an individual or group of individuals in relation to any recent or distant event, both before and after the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road in Aba got underway.”
