The Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress has suspended the ongoing nationwide strike according to a statement released at their Joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The attack on Nigeria Labour Congress’s President Joe Ajaero and other unresolved concerns were the reasons behind the state of the strike.
The Federal Government’s intervention through the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) led to the decision to halt the strike.
“The NEC of the NLC and TUC have suspended the strike,” declared Tommy Etim, National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, following the meeting.
“We took this action because we trusted National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to advise us,” the statement read.
