Nigerians will hear from president Tinubu today

by samsunblog

At 7 p.m. on Monday (today), President Bola Tinubu will address Nigerians.

Dele Alake, Special Advisor to the President on Strategy, Communication, and Special Duties, made the announcement in a statement that was made public on Monday morning.

On Monday, July 31, 2023, at 7 p.m., “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will make a broadcast to the nation.

In order to broadcast the event, television stations, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets were urged to connect to the network services of Radio Nigeria and the Nigerian Television Authority, according to the statement.

The removal of the subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit, more commonly known as gasoline, and its subsequent impact on Nigerians’ cost of living may not be unrelated to the broadcast.

The Nigeria Labour Congress claimed last week that as a result of the hardship, Nigerians lost their peace of mind as a result of Tinubu’s inauguration speech on May 29, 2023, when he said, “Subsidy is gone.”

The labour congress criticized the Tinubu administration for its “unfriendly” policies and added that the administration had continued to treat Nigerians like slaves in a statement issued in Abuja and jointly signed by its National President, Joe Ajaero, and Secretary-General, Emmanuel Ugboaja.

The NLC has started a massive mobilization in preparation for its planned nationwide strike, which is set to start on Wednesday in protest of the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.
The NLC requested that Nigerians “join us at the Unity Fountain, Abuja on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 7 am” in a schedule that was obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Sunday.

There is no country in the world where the government completely abandons its people to the whims of the market without any oversight or protection. Instead of subjecting everyday citizens to avoidable suffering and hardship, the Federal Government should take swift and decisive action to address the criminal content of subsidy.
