Davido, a well-known Nigerian musician explained why he was dubbed the “King of Afrobeats” in his home country.
This became known when he highlighted in an interview how big of an influence he has had on the African music scene.
The well known DMW member posted an interested video on October 21st, which featured his recent interview with ABC News. He accurately captured the broad appeal of the Afrobeats genre in this interview.
In the video, Davido showed his happiness at being acclaimed as the “King of Afrobeats” by stating, “It symbolizes the hard-earned recognition, the sweet fruit of patience, and a journey that commenced during my formative years.” He declared.
The OBO Crooner responded to questions about his music and way of life by saying that although most of his songs reflect African culture, his way of life and love of partying are in line with western emotions.
He said that when he was younger, American rappers like 50 cent, Ja Rule, Nelly, and Ludacris were his favorites artists and he was also influenced by Nigerian music pioneers like 2face, Psquare, and D’banj.
But according to Davido, he took a decision that changed his life in college to return to his origins in Nigeria and join the growing Afrobeats movements.
