Following a heatwave in Israel, Netanyahu leaves the hospital

After being admitted to the hospital the day before for dehydration due to the country’s ongoing heat wave, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was discharged on Sunday.

The head of the cardiology department at the Sheba Medical Center, where Netanyahu received treatment, Amit Segev, said the prime minister had a heart monitor fitted during his stay.

According to Segev, tests revealed that Netanyahu’s heart was healthy and that there was no evidence of a heart arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat.

Netanyahu has passed a battery of tests and is in excellent health, according to Segev.

The Israeli prime minister was checked into a hospital in Ramat Gan, a Tel Aviv suburb, on Saturday.

Later on Saturday, the prime minister released a video statement in which he claimed to be dehydrated and encouraged people to drink more water.

I spent time with my wife in the Sea of Galilee yesterday while it was sunny, without a hat, and without any water. Not a good idea, said Netanyahu. “So first of all, I want to thank all of you for your concern, as well as the superb teams here at Sheba who examined me.

Thank God, I’m feeling great, but I only have one request of you: please limit your time in the sun and increase your water intake so that everyone can enjoy a good week.

According to the Israel Meteorological Service, temperatures in Israel have been in the low 90s Fahrenheit (mid-30s Celsius) for a few days and are predicted to stay there for the next week.

In a tweet, Yair Lapid, the head of the opposition, wished Benjamin Netanyahu “a full recovery and good health.”

The leader’s office announced that a cabinet meeting scheduled for Sunday has been moved to Monday.

The center-right Likud Party’s 73-year-old leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, has dominated Israeli politics for nearly three decades.

He experienced his first loss of office in 12 years in June 2021 as a result of rival Naftali Bennett’s victory in the parliamentary vote to form a government.

In a dramatic comeback eighteen months later, he was sworn in as prime minister once more after putting together a coalition.

Netanyahu became ill on Yom Kippur in October 2022 while attending a synagogue.

After being admitted, he spent the night in the hospital before being let go.
