Olayemi Agbeloba, 16, committed suicide after her boss’s husband, whose name could only be confirmed as Ajibode, allegedly sexually assaulted her at their home in the Eruwa neighborhood of Oyo State’s Ibarapa Local Government Area.

Welder Ajibode is accused of threatening to kill the minor if she told anyone what happened after committing the crime.

Punch Metro learned that Agbeloba was Ajibode’s wife’s apprentice up until the time of her passing.

The minor, who was said to have been living with her boss to help her with household duties, had reportedly been studying fashion design from Ajibode’s wife.

The situation, however, changed when Ajibode allegedly sexually assaulted the minor on June 23, 2023, while the child was sleeping in a room at the couple’s home.

The minor, who was reportedly traumatized by Ajibode’s action and enraged by the development, reportedly drank a substance thought to be insecticide and died from the toxic substance.

Sunday, Agbeloba’s father, revealed that he reported the incident to the Eruwa Police Station in an effort to secure justice for his late daughter. Sunday had been distraught ever since he learned of the circumstances that may have led to her daughter’s alleged suicide.

He regretted, however, that Ajibode had been detained by the police while they were looking into the case because the suspect had boasted that justice would not be served.

According to Sunday, “My wife and I decided that she should learn how to do crafts, so Olalemi went to Ajibode’s wife’s house early this year. She had been residing with Ajibode and his wife for roughly six months when we received the unexpected news that she had passed away.

Later, we learned that Ajibode had sexually assaulted my daughter and that she had then consumed an insecticide. Medical staff at the hospital she was taken to for treatment after she drank the insecticide verified this. At the hospital, we also learned that my daughter claimed that Ajibode had sexually assaulted her before she drank the insecticide, which is what caused her to die.

“He was detained and then released after I reported the incident to the Eruwa Police Station. Since then, Ajibode has been asserting that he is connected to others and that we are powerless to stop him. He forced my daughter to commit suicide after raping her, and he still believes he will get away with it.

When Agbeloba’s mother, Folake, spoke while sobbing, she said her daughter had once admitted to her that Ajibode frequently bothered her while she slept at night.

I’m speechless right now because they’ve taken my daughter away from me, the woman said. Is going to school to pursue a trade illegal? My daughter was sexually assaulted by Ajibode, and he and his wife are attempting to cover it up. Due to Ajibode’s abuse of my daughter, she is no longer with us.

She once admitted to me that her boss’s husband frequently woke her up at night when she tried to get some shut-eye in their home. Although I wanted her to complete her apprenticeship, I also wanted to force her to return home. What did they do to my child, look at it?

When a Punch reporter asked the upset parents for Ajibode’s mobile number so he could call him to get his side of the story, they replied that they didn’t have it and gave the reporter Ajibode’s wife’s number instead, asking her to get him.

I’m unable to speak, she said. I don’t even know you, and I’m sleeping. I am unable to comment on that subject. I would rather speak to you in person.

The Eruwa Divisional Police Headquarters received a report of a homicide, according to the state police public relations officer, DSP Asewale Onifeso. Additionally, it appears to be a defiling situation. Investigations have, however, been intensified. Additional updates would be given in accordance.
