The PUNCH has learned that one person was killed and another was hurt as a result of gunmen entering Magamin Kano Village in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Monday.
In addition, the gunmen broke into Alh. Bashir Abubakar’s home and abducted his wife and son, taking them somewhere unknown.
One person was shot in the thigh and is currently receiving medical care at the Ningi General Hospital, according to a source who spoke to journalists.
The traditional ruler was the main target, but he managed to flee; unfortunately, his wife and son were not as fortunate.
The source claimed that after engaging in active operations for several hours, the numerous gunmen fled through the Ningi forest.
As of the time this report was submitted, Ahmed Wakil, a Superintendent of Police who serves as the Police Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Command, could not be reached for comment.
According to our correspondent, gunmen recently invaded Kafin Lemo, broke into homes and businesses, and stole numerous valuables worth millions of Naira. In the process, they shot one person in the leg.
Following the recent and ongoing activities of gunmen, many residents of Ningi LGA are now living in fear and panic. Many people are now afraid to go to their farms.
According to locals, gunmen attacked and invaded several villages in the Ningi LGA within the previous month, killing two people and kidnapping a number of others.
They claimed that the ransom money, estimated to be about N50 million, was paid by the families of the victims before the kidnappers freed their captives.
