Men from the Osun State Amotekun Corps have detained two suspects, Joseph Dennis, 20, and Friday Agogo, 29, for stabbing a market vendor in the Ila region of the state.

Idowu Yusuf, the corps’ spokesperson, claimed in a statement on Saturday that the suspects attacked the victim as she was coming home from the market.

Despite the hoodlums’ masks covering their faces, Yusuf observed that the victim recognized one of them by voice and reported the attack to the security organization.

Joseph Dennis, 20, and Friday Agogo, 29, both natives of Benue State, were detained for the attempted murder of a market woman in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, he said.

“They covered their faces with masks for the woman not to recognise them, but she recognised one of the suspects through his voice and lodged a complaint at Amotekun, Ila command; operatives immediately swung into action and arrested the suspects in their hideout.

“The suspects attacked the woman at Thick Area, Elemo Ogun community, on her way to Ila-Orangun, after selling farm produce. They collected her money and also attempted to stab her with a knife. The culprits admitted to committing the act.”

He declared that the police had been given the suspects for further investigation and prosecution.
