The Labour Party’s Governor Alex Otti was victorious in the governorship race, according to the tribunal hearing petitions in
Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.
Ikechi Emenike of the All Progresssive Congress (APC) and Okey Ahaiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had
contested Otti’s election, filed applications with the tribunal.
Otti’s name was allegedly not on Labour Party’s record when the party nominated him as its governship candidate for the
2023 general election, and Emenike had claimed that Alex otti had not resigned from the APC before joining the LP in 2022.
Ahaiwe, who finished second in the election, had asked the court to declare him winner and toss out Otti.
