A fresh batch of nominees for ministerial positions will be sent to the Senate today for review by President Bola Tinubu.

Candidates from a range of industries are anticipated to be on the list.

The names would either be announced on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning, according to a very trustworthy source in the Senate.

The source exclusively informed our correspondent that today’s plenary would read the names of the new group of ministerial nominees.

The lawmaker also stated that the 28 nominees’ screening will be completed today, allowing for the screening of the following group.

“The new slate of nominees will be announced by Wednesday, and we’ll finish screening them by Monday.

We want to finish the screening before we break for a break. The lawmaker stated, “We wouldn’t want a situation where we would go on break and then start calling lawmakers back to come for screening.

Out of the 28 ministerial nominees the President had previously submitted, 14 had already been vetted by the Senate on Monday.

Nine of the 14 remaining candidates were screened on Tuesday. Senator David Umahi of Ebonyi, Olawale Edun of Ogun State, Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, Ahmed Dangiwa of Katsina, Uche Nnaji of Enugu State, Stella Okotete of Delta State, Adebayo Adelabu of Oyo State, Ekperikpe Ekpo of Cross River State, and Hannatu Musawa were among those screened on Tuesday (Katsina State).

Edun, a financial expert, provided opinions on the country’s exchange rate during his screening.

During the ministerial screening, Kogi West senator Sunday Karimi spoke out against former governor El-Rufai. He gave a petition against El-Rufai, citing his excellent performance in several offices and his ardent advocacy for Nigeria’s safety, cohesion, and unity.

Jibrin Barau, the deputy senate president, received the petition from Karimi and commended El-Rufai for his skill as a minister.

Barau, however, decided to postpone the screening until Wednesday, explaining that it was a chance for candidates to introduce themselves and then confirm and approve their credentials. Other senators praised El-Rufai and thought he was qualified to serve as a minister.
