After witnessing a $3 billion reduction in his net worth on Thursday, which went from $202 billion to $199 billion in a single day, Bernard Arnault was momentarily knocked from the top spot.
He did, however, swiftly reclaim his title as the richest man in the world, having made $460 million in less than a day.
Born on March 5, 1949, Bernard Arnault is the founder and CEO of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, the largest luxury goods firm in the world, known for its varied portfolio that includes fashion, jewelry, watches, and wine, as well as for its strategic acquisitions.
Known by his ruthless commercial tactics as “The Terminator,” Bernard Arnault is also praised for his charitable work, particularly in the fields of arts and culture, which is best demostrated by the Louis Vuitton Foundation.
The richest man in the world list has been fluctuation for some time.
As at March 22, 2024, his estimated net worth of US $231.5 billion made him the richest man in the world, demostrating his significant impact on both business and culture.
Closely behind are Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, with a net worth of $196.3 billion and Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, with a net worth of $193.7 billion.
In the meantime, the estimated net worths of Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg and Oracle founder, Larry Ellison are $178 billion and 158.7 billion respectively.
