The long awaited Africa’s biggest privately owned oil refinery, Dangote Petroleum Refinery company commences operation.
The 650,000 barrels per day private refinery owned by Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, is now producing automotive gas oil also known as diesel and aviation fuel according to statement by Dangote group on her X handle (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.
Nigeria economy is the largest in Africa and an oil producing nation, imports refined petroleum products which makes it expensive for the citizenry.
Dangote group in her X handle thanked the government of Lagos and financiers that contributed in one way or another in making sure the project becomes a reality.
Th statements reads:
“I must extend our sincere appreciation to our Bankers and financiers, both local and offshore. In the same vein, we thank the Government of Lagos State, under the leadership of Babajide Sanwo-Olu. I also sincerely thank our host communities and their Traditional leaders.”
Dangote Petroleum Refinery could be “game-changer” for the Nigerian economy that relied heavily on imports.
