More than twenty Google workers were let off after they voiced opposition to the company’s cloud computing agreement with the Israeli government.
Following an inquiry that revealed they had organized protests inside Google’s offices in Sunnyvale, California, and New York, the employees were let off.
They went inside Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud,’s office in Sunnyvale. “No More Genocide for Profit” and “We Stand with Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim Googlers” were among the placards carried by the demonstrators.
A Google representative noted that the demonstrations were a part of a long-running effort by a number of groups and individuals, the majority of whom are not employed by the business.
Under Project Nimbus, Google and Amazon have a $1.2 billion deal to supply cloud computing services to the Israeli government and military.
The dismissals have been fiercely denounced by No Tech For Apartheid, which claims that this blatant act of retaliation shows that the tech giant prioritizes its $1.2 billion deal with the Israeli government and military more than its own employees.
